    Will Work for Cash

Today is Labor Day and so it is only fitting that my mind turn to ideas on how my hard work and efforts can bring in more money.  I am not trying to be a greedy capitalist here. Quite on the contrary - I feel like poor little Oliver Twist, pleeding for more porridge.

Why do I feel this way? Two words: Graduate School.

The thing is, I am approaching 30, and now that I have some "work experience" under my belt, I am ready for another go-around of schooling. Besides, I have always dreamed of a getting an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, and once I make a life-goal, I don't let anything dissuade me from it.

Anything, except for the lack of funds, that is. Don't get me wrong, the Mr. and I are doing very well for ourselves. But with plans of buying a house in the near future, and adding a little Jr. or Princess at around the same time (Please, no baby gifts yet. I am just saying that they will be coming along within the next couple of years), we'll be hard pressed to find a random 5 - 8 thousand dollars  just sitting around with nothing to do.  And that, my friends, is a per semester cost of tuition.

    Still, where there's a will. . .

So here's what I figure are my possible plans of action:

    1. Apply for various Grants and Scholarships. According to www.gradschools.com there are a bunch out there for grad students, I just have to put in the work of applying and writing essays and yada-yada-yada.
    2. Start saving a mini-portion of my pay checks away into a special "Corina Grad School Fund."
    3. Get a huge publishing book deal and sell a billion copies.
    4. Straight up ask you guys to send me cash, as a donation. Who knows, I may be tax-deductible. Anything you want to send me is fine. I take cash, checks, or money order.

Looking at the above list, numbers 1 and 2 are the most probable and feasible at the moment. 3 will happen, one day, but I am figuring after the M.F.A. As for 4, I am not entirely ruling it out, but I am guessing you'd at least like something for your donation.

What could I offer? Hmmmm.... I KNOW!! Okay, your choice. I will edit any of your school/work reports for a flat rate of $15.00 per paper (up to 25 pages). Anything more, and we can negotiate. If interested, I'll send you a contract disclosing the deal, your rights, my rights, etc. . .OR, I will write a story/poem just for you or a special someone in your life for $1.50. Just think, you get to be immortalized for less than the price of a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Whichever you choose, I know you'll find the value as a steal of a deal, and your conscience will be glowing because you will help somebody earn an education.

And really, who can put a price on that? (Apparently, every accredited university and college in the nation can).

P.S. - Not kidding about option number 4, and the accompanied editing/writing service. Let me know if you need the help. I am an adjunct professor at Tunxis Community College in CT, and did work as a Rhetoric and Writing Prof. for the University of Hartford up unitl last year. Bonafide English teacher, right here. Step right up!

Couldn't have said it better myself! I want desperately to go to grad school, but am not sure financially how I can give up work (or work more!) in order to afford it. If you figure out a way, let me know! :)
